Workshop Description:
The future is interactive and audio professionals of every discipline are being confronted with the demands of new technologies and the experiences they enable.

Beyond the classic notion of "video games" is a wave of innovation that pushes past the boundaries of linear media to deliver something more. From interactive web experiences, metaverse solutions, mobile applications, digital retail solutions, and trade fair & event installations to virtual and augmented reality applications, every corner of the economy is scrambling to engage users, employees, customers, etc.. in more fun and impactful ways.

As composers and sound designers, we need to understand and react to this changing landscape by wrapping our heads around the fundamental differences between linear and non-linear media.

In this workshop, you will get an overview of the key concepts that differentiate interactive media as well as get hands-on with some real-life examples of techniques that are commonly used in such projects.

Ben Gallagher is a jack-of-all-trades audio professional primarily focused on designing sound and music for interactive media from "classic" computer/console games to gamified B2B experiences.
Ben currently directs the audio department at German-based creative technology agency Demodern, where he helps push the future of human-digital interaction forward by designing sound for their innovative projects and business solutions.
